About SmartPawParent
SmartPawParent was built around one idea: honest pet product reviews that actually help you decide. Most advice online is vague, outdated, or quietly written to favour whatever pays the highest commission. We wanted something different — a site that treats pet owners like intelligent adults who deserve specific, well-researched answers. Not “here are 15 GPS trackers ranked by price” but “here’s the one we’d actually buy, here’s why, and here are your best alternatives if your situation is different.”
Every article is written by either Zack or Clarissa — actual pet owners, not content contractors. Zack lives with two dogs: Molly, a Golden Retriever, and Jasper, a Cavapoo. Clarissa has three cats: Leuvis (Siamese), Bayon (Persian mix), and Palvus (British Shorthair). When we write about separation anxiety or litter box avoidance, it’s because we’ve dealt with it firsthand.
What We Cover
We focus on four things:
Pet tech — GPS trackers, health monitors, automatic feeders, smart litter boxes, and anything else that genuinely makes life better for you and your pet. We cut through the marketing noise and tell you what’s actually worth buying.
Self-cleaning litter boxes — We’ve researched every major model available right now so you don’t have to spend hours reading conflicting Amazon reviews. Our litter box guides are thorough, honest, and updated regularly.
Pet anxiety and behaviour — Anxiety in pets is far more common than most owners realise. We cover the signs, the causes, and the practical solutions that actually work — from calming diffusers to professional training resources.
New pet starter guides — Everything you need to know before and after bringing a new dog or cat home. What to buy, what to skip, and what nobody tells you about the first 24 hours.
In future, we will also include how to travel with your pets and what is needed to create the stress-free experience for you and your pet.
Who We Write For
We write specifically for dog and cat owners in the US, Australia, and Singapore — because a GPS tracker that ships free to Texas might cost twice as much in Singapore, and a product legal in one country might be restricted in another. Generic advice ignores that. Ours doesn’t.
How We Approach Honest Pet Product Reviews
Before anything gets recommended here, we dig into the actual owner experience — Reddit threads, one-star Amazon reviews, long-term use reports, and independent test data where it exists. We’re looking for patterns: what breaks after six months, what the marketing glosses over, what real owners wish they’d known before buying.
Our affiliate relationships — we use Amazon Associates and a small number of other programs — never influence what we recommend. If a product doesn’t make the cut, it doesn’t appear in our guides, regardless of commission rates. You can read more about how our affiliate program works on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Why Honest Reviews Matter More in Pet Tech
Pet tech is a fast-moving, crowded market where marketing budgets are huge and genuine independent testing is rare. Honest pet product reviews are hard to find because most sites are built to rank, not to help. We’re trying to be the exception — and our readers tend to notice the difference pretty quickly.
Get in Touch
Whether you’re a first-time dog owner trying to figure out which GPS tracker won’t die in the rain, or a cat parent researching the least-smelly self-cleaning litter box — we’ve probably already gone down that rabbit hole for you. That’s exactly why SmartPawParent exists.
We read every message we receive. If you have a question, a product suggestion, or just want to share how things are going with your new pet — we’d love to hear from you.
