Your pet’s safety is worth more than any gadget — but the right GPS tracker comes pretty close to that kind of peace of mind.
Whether your dog has a talent for squeezing through fences or your cat treats the neighbourhood as her personal territory, a GPS tracker means the difference between a full-blown panic and a quick glance at your phone. And the newer generation of health monitors goes even further — tracking heart rate, respiratory rate, sleep quality, and activity levels so you know not just where your pet is, but how they’re actually doing.
This page covers everything we’ve published on GPS trackers and health monitors for dogs and cats.
What to Look For in a Pet GPS Tracker
Not all GPS trackers are created equal. Before you buy, here are the things that actually matter:
Update frequency — Some budget trackers only update location every 60 seconds. The better ones update every 2–3 seconds. That difference matters when your dog is running at full speed in the wrong direction.
Subscription fees — Almost every GPS tracker requires a monthly subscription for the cellular service. Budget $5–$15 per month depending on the device. Factor this into your total cost.
Battery life — Ranges from 2 days to 14 days depending on the device and how often it updates. If you forget to charge things, longer battery life matters more.
Size and weight — A tracker that’s too heavy or bulky will bother your pet. Look for something under 35g for cats and smaller dogs.
Water resistance — Your pet will get wet. Make sure any tracker is at minimum splash-proof, ideally fully waterproof.
